REVS Staff: Requesting Apps to Purchase... Here is the process:

EMAIL Sandy with the following information for EACH app:

  • Name of app (get directly from iTunes App Store)
  • For which device(s) - give name of them &/or where located, including how many iPads will need it
  • Price of app (and TOTAL cost if for more than 1 iPad) -- this may be adjusted for discounted pricing, which Sandy will handle
  • Reason/Curricular use – describe how it will be used, which teacher(s), and it's importance (since money is limited for app purchases!)

  • Auto-Lock (“awake”) – in Settings >> General >> AutoLock (set for a certain time or to never sleep – such as watching a movie, slide show, etc.)
  • Zoom feature – in Settings >> General >> Accessibility >>  Zoom (switch to on) – READ how to do it!!! NOTE: this cannot be used in conjunction with VoiceOver (choose one or switch as needed)
  • White on Black text - Settings >> General >> Accessibility >> White on Black (switch to on)
    • Triple click home button – can set a Triple Click on the home button for (pick one): VoiceOver, White on Black, Ask, or Off

Educational Adaptations or Suggestions...

  • View QuickTime videos (.mov files) or MP4 videos to iPad – drag the file into the main iTunes Library first, then, once there, select the video and go to Advanced menu – convert to iPad format (which creates a copy that can then be dragged onto your iPad library)
    • NOTE: this works for SMART Notebook recording files that are made on a Mac
  • For Student iPads – create large numbers on the screen, take a screen shot, then make that the wallpaper when turn it on (make it match the outside label) OR make the home screen your school logo/name
  • Typing on iPad – if you’re a “wrist-rester” use an old mouse pad to rest upon to delay the carpal tunnel syndrome
  • 2 Keyboards at once – it’s possible w/ a wireless/Bluetooth keyboard and the keyboard dock
  • Camera Connection Kit – get images quickly to iPad (cost = $29) – or just add to your computer, then sync via iTunes
